Put it back

Unprompted by neo-colonialist guilt and bucolic-vision free, I signed up with the National Trust for Scotland. The facilities I used and paths I walked recently, were enough to convince me that it was the right thing to do.

I'll offset the money by cancelling my membership of The BMC. They do naff all* for me anyway.

*I toned it down a bit.

I let my MCofS membership lapse this year.
They decided not to change the name to "mountaineeringscotland" which I though would have modernised it a lot a projected a better image. They do such good work at times, but I feel so detached from all that they represent at the same time. Maybe when my beard gets longer and I wear my tartan shirt more...

National Trust though, good call.

LOL at the terminology, Big Kev. Cheered me up.

NTS - did you go for the "Outdoor" membership? You still get all the perks, but the money goes on paths and similar outdoor projects.

For me, the MCoS gives me access to the BMC Insurance. And yet another outdoor magazine to read.

Now, where'd I leave my last remaining checked shirt ;-)

ptc, I agree that the MCofS is a wee bit dated but I have a soft spot for them so I'll stay paid up. As Duncan says, there are other benefits.

Duncan, aye it's the outdoor membership. Seemed the "best fit" for somebody like me. And I get a sticker for my car. Cool :o)
